If there are scripts for the courses, you can find out on the respective course page in TISS. Normally, you can buy each script at the secretary’s office of the respective institute that holds the course, often scripts are also offered in the course of the 1st unit of the respective course or distributed via the Graphic Center.
STEOP – What is that?
In the tab Bachelor and in the subheading STEOP we have summarized everything you need to know for the beginning.
Can I get credit for something as an HTL graduate?
Basically no. As an HTL graduate you have the possibility to take advantage of shortened courses.
Can I have courses from other fields of study credited?
Are there any entrance restrictions/ entrance tests?
There are no admission restrictions for the Bachelor’s programs in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering – Mechanical and Process Engineering. However, there is the so-called study VOR-phase.
VOR- Phase (Preparation and Reflection Phase)
It must be completed before you can enroll in one of our bachelor programs (MB, WIMB, VT) and consists of two online tests, a self-assessment test and a math test. The result should help you to decide about the study choice, for the study itself you can start this with any result of the two tests.
Additional exam from Descriptive Geometry
In principle, every student has to take this exam, but students who have successfully completed at least 4 hours per week in the course of their previous education from upper secondary school onwards can have this additional exam cancelled. Whether you have to take this additional exam will be clarified at enrollment, you can also read it afterwards in the study sheet. This lecture is a prerequisite for admission to the degree program and can therefore not be credited to the degree program. You do not have to classify Descriptive Geometry when submitting your bachelor’s degree in TISS, because the dean’s office only checks whether the exam has been taken.
Refresher course in mathematics (AKMath)
To refresh your knowledge of mathematics and to get to know the university for the first time, there is the AKMath. We can highly recommend it and refer to the homepage for more info:
The AkMath can be credited for the study and is to be assigned to the electives when submitting in TISS
Is it possible to do a semester abroad?
Yes, it is possible to do a semester abroad, you can find more detailed information here.
How can I prepare for my studies?
The study program is designed to be sufficiently prepared with Matura knowledge. However, we strongly recommend that every student attend the mathematics adaptation course.
Do I have to buy books?
There are many books in the library of the TU Vienna that are useful for your studies. There is also the possibility to look at many books in digital form. Furthermore, there is the possibility to download many Springer books for free, if you are in the TU Vienna network.
What is the difference between the studies in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering and Management?
The WIMB program at the TU Vienna is very technical (approx. 70:30). Most of the basic courses of the bachelor’s degree are identical to those of the MB degree. Specialization in the direction of economics is only possible in the master’s program.
I paid in the tuition fees, but I still finished in the grace period and have now enrolled for the master. Can I claim back the increased tuition fee?
Yes, this is possible, you can find the form here.
Can I register for the Master’s program even though I have not yet completed the Bachelor’s degree?
You can only enroll for the master’s program if you have completed your bachelor’s degree.
